Heyyyy! My name is Adrian and I was doing my EVS in Kinderfreunde Salzburg, in Austria. After finishing my EVS project I can just say good words regarding to this experience, it was something that I'm going to remember during all my life. In my case this experience meant a lot because it was a really long term experience (one year) so you can see deeply how your daily life change, is not just about the project if not the idea of arriving to a place where you just heard something about and make it "your" place, with all the things that surround this fact.
Is a process that destroys many walls that your mind has, making you realise how close you are to the people from Iran, Bulgaria, Turkey, Finland, Austria, Korea… something that really change your idea about borders and countries, it is more about people.
Also I think that this experience can provide you benefits in your life, in the 99% of the cases, how to overcome the difficulties and seeing in first person how step by step you see and feel the result is always something that can just enrich you as a person. Regarding to this, is important to highlight that somebody is always supporting you and making your life easier, your mentor, akzente, the volunteers, your work colleagues… so you just have to worry about enjoying the experience 100%.
I think that there is an opportunity that nobody can miss, to know yourself better and to kick your boring routine out and get a new perspective of life. Is the chance that everybody deserves, and I'm really glad to have taken the decision. :)
